Madhav National Park Welcomes Tigress P-234 from Panna Tiger Reserve into its Territory
Wildlife tourism in Madhya Pradesh takes a significant leap forward with the relocation of tigress P-234 from Panna Tiger Reserve to Madhav National Park in Shivpuri. The successful transfer of the 25-month-old tigress on Monday, March 10, 2025, marks a major milestone in conservation efforts aimed at managing tiger populations across protected areas.
The carefully coordinated operation involved a dedicated team of wildlife experts, including the Field Director of Panna Tiger Reserve, forest guards from Madhav National Park, and a specialized rescue team. Under the supervision of veterinarians and conservation experts, the tigress was safely anesthetized before being transported to her new habitat. To ensure close monitoring of her adaptation, she has been fitted with a tracking collar.

Madhav National Park, which was recently granted Tiger Reserve status, has now become the ninth tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh, further strengthening the state’s reputation as the ‘Tiger State of India.’ With the arrival of P-234, the tiger population in the reserve has now increased to six. The relocation event was graced by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who also unveiled the official logo of Madhav Tiger Reserve.
Spanning 375 square kilometers, Madhav Tiger Reserve is now poised to become a major destination for wildlife tourism, offering visitors a unique opportunity to witness India’s majestic big cats in their natural habitat. Officials have also confirmed plans to introduce a male tiger to the reserve soon, ensuring the long-term success of this ambitious conservation initiative.
